Chapter 492

Although the black bear was hurt, its strength could not be underestimated, it swung its massive paw at Bruce, who flashed aside to dodge, seizing the opening, he thrust his spear at the black bear’s belly, but the bear’s hide was incredibly tough, the spear merely broke its skin.

Bruce’s heart skipped a beat, he realized his attacks were barely a scratch to this monster, he had to find a more effective method.

Right then, he saw the black bear’s injured left eye, his heart stirred, he decided to exploit this weakness, drew his bow, and fired again, this time aiming for the other eye.

The arrow tore through the night sky and struck the black bear in the right eye.

The black bear let out a mournful, blood-curdling scream, it covered its eyes with both paws, writhing in immense agony.

Bruce felt a surge of joy, I can win.

Gripping his spear tightly, he leaped up, intending to jump onto the black bear’s back, however, at that moment, the black bear suddenly let out a furious roar, a powerful burst of demonic qi erupted from its body, sending Bruce flying.

He crashed heavily onto the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood, agonizing pain shot through his body, as if every bone had been shattered.

Not good, this black bear’s strength was far more formidable than he had imagined.

He struggled to stand, it felt as if all the strength in his body had been drained away, but an unyielding light flickered in his eyes, now was not the time to fight recklessly, he had to outsmart it.

He glanced at the broken spear in his hand, a wave of regret washed over him, this was the weapon he relied on most, yet it had snapped in the clash.

But he had no time to mourn it, the injured black bear was already closing in.

Bruce took a deep breath, suppressing the fear and pain in his heart, he quickly pulled the last two arrows from his quiver, these were his final hope, he had to use them to buy time to escape.

He stared intently at the black bear, searching for the optimal moment, although its eyes were injured, it remained exceptionally ferocious, it roared and charged with astonishing speed.

Bruce’s heart stirred, the opportunity had arrived, he violently drew his bow and fired, the two arrows streaked across the night sky like meteors, shooting straight for the bear’s eyes.

A muffled sound rang out, the black bear dodged one arrow but failed to dodge the second, it let out an agonizing roar, staggering as its speed instantly slowed, if both eyes hadn’t been injured, it wouldn’t have been hit by a single arrow.

It wanted to tear this human to pieces.

But suddenly, a small figure rushed right in front of it, holding a stone knife, Bruce slashed fiercely at the bear demon’s neck, his small face filled with ruthless determination.

The black bear never expected this tiny human to charge at it.

Boom.

A powerful wave of demonic qi erupted again, sending Bruce flying.

He crashed onto the ground, spitting blood, his final chance was gone, looking at the black bear charging toward him, his eyes filled with despair.

Am I really going to die here?

"Run, Bruce, run." Suddenly, Eve’s voice rang out in his mind, a memory surfaced, he was lying in bed, and Eve was beside him, treating his wounds.

"I told you to run back then, Bruce, why didn’t you run?"

"No way, who asked him to badmouth us? I won’t run!"

"Idiot, you can’t be like that, when you meet someone you can’t beat, it’s okay to run away." The little girl’s voice choked with sobs.

"If something bad happened to you, what would I do?"

"I’m sorry, Eve. I... don’t cry, it’s my fault."

Bruce lay on the bed, looking at the crying little girl, feeling at a loss.

"Roar." The image was shattered by the black bear’s roar, Bruce’s eyes reignited with fighting spirit.

Right, he had to run, he couldn’t die here.

A surge of strength welled up within his body, astonishingly, he scrambled to his feet and ran straight toward the depths of the dense forest.

He would not die, he still had to avenge Eve.

"Roar." The black bear roared furiously from behind, but being blind prevented it from keeping up with the little boy’s speed.

...

At noon one day.

Adam was pondering how to equip Heaven-Sealing Pass with offensive capabilities alongside its defensive power.

Suddenly, he felt something, a formation he had placed was activated, Adam narrowed his eyes, he had almost forgotten, he had left a child in a demonic beast forest.

The next second, his figure vanished, when he reappeared, he was hovering above that very forest.

"Immortal Master, over here." A childish voice rang out, Adam turned to see a young boy standing atop a hill, waving excitedly.

The scorching sunlight cast dappled shadows on the little boy, his appearance was somewhat wretched, with bleeding wounds on his body, yet an unyielding light shone in his eyes.

He had just fought his way out of the demonic beast forest, covered in mud and grass clippings, his clothes torn to shreds by branches and thorns, but his steps were firm and powerful, as if every footfall was declaring his victory.

In his hands, he tightly gripped a self-made spear, the shaft was cobbled from a wooden stick and stone, although primitive, the spear tip was polished exceptionally sharp, glinting with a cold light, he had carefully smoothed the grip, while still rough, it felt secure.

This spear was newly made by the little boy, these weapons, crafted by his own hands using limited resources, had accompanied him through countless life-and-death moments.

Hanging from his waist was a crude quiver containing a few self-made arrows, the shafts were made from tough branches, the arrowheads fashioned from sharpened stone flakes, although not as sharp as real weapons, in this forest, they had become his most reliable partners.

The exhaustion and tension from battling demonic beasts still lingered on the little boy’s face, but his gaze was exceptionally firm, his face carried an indescribable fortitude and bravery.

He succeeded, he, Bruce, had succeeded, he could finally become the Immortal Master’s disciple.

The corners of Adam’s mouth curled up, not bad, this kid, he slowly descended.
