"Since we’re done unpacking, let’s go get familiar with the campus together," Han Ting said.
"Okay, okay. You’ve all picked your beds, right? Then I’ll take this one." Huang Shiyuan quickly found a rag, ran some water, and started wiping down the wardrobe and desk.
Han Ting and Tianmiao joined in cleaning up.
Once they finished tidying, Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan took out their things and arranged them. Huang Shiyuan said happily, "I’ve always heard the A University cafeteria is great and cheap. Let’s go try it out later."
A University was actually founded back in the day by the Emperor of Fortune’s son. Of course, it wasn’t called A University then; it was called Bailu Academy. At its peak, Bailu Academy basically monopolized the top three ranks in the imperial exams—Number One Scholar, Second Place, Third Place. You can imagine how influential Bailu Academy was at the time.
After several hundred years, Bailu Academy changed names a few times, and finally became today’s A University.
"The emperor after the Emperor of Fortune supposedly named the cafeteria Taotie Building to commemorate his imperial father, because the Emperor of Fortune loved good food." Han Ting nodded. "A University has eight cafeterias, but the food at Taotie Building is the best."
"The Emperor of Fortune is amazing. Loves food and still keeps such a good figure." Huang Shiyuan’s eyes were full of stars as she spoke worshipfully.
Tianmiao: "..." My son must have a lot of fangirls like this. If they knew the truth, would they cry?
"So we’ll walk around campus first and then go eat? You’ve all picked up your meal cards, right?" Tianmiao stood up and asked.
"Yeah, yeah." Han Ting nodded and stood up as well. "Let’s go."
Huang Shiyuan pulled out her phone. "Let’s add each other on WeChat first and then make a group chat, that’ll make it easier to keep in touch."
"Okay." Han Ting and Tianmiao also took out their phones. After they added each other on WeChat, Huang Shiyuan created a group.
The group name was 8-521; they were in Building 8, fifth floor, room 21.
"There’s still one roommate who hasn’t come yet. Wonder if she’s in our major too." Huang Shiyuan said, glancing at the still-empty bed.
"We’ll know once she gets here." Han Ting picked up her bag and put away her phone.
Huang Shiyuan glanced at the bag on Han Ting’s shoulder and let out a wow: "Han Ting, that bag—it’s NU. Nice!" NU was a brand that had taken the world by storm; even a small wallet cost several thousand, and a crossbody like this was usually tens of thousands. They even had crossbodies in the hundred-thousand range. For Huang Shiyuan, who came from a comfortably off but not wealthy family, seeing a student like Han Ting carrying that kind of bag was understandably surprising.
"The quality’s pretty good." Han Ting smiled, clearly not trying to show off.
"When I have money—eh, forget it, I’ll talk big when I’m rich, hahaha." Huang Shiyuan laughed loudly. After her initial shock, she didn’t bring it up again.
The three walked out together. Tianmiao listened to Huang Shiyuan and Han Ting chattering non-stop; the two also took Tianmiao’s feelings into account and kept pulling her in to share her opinions.
After one loop around, the three were already close, especially since they all knew the Emperor of Fortune like the back of their hands. With common topics and shared interests, that’s all it takes for girls’ friendships to form.
"Milk tea? I’ll go buy," Huang Shiyuan asked.
"I’ll buy," Han Ting said.
"Oh come on, it’s just a bit of money. My treat this time, you two treat next time," Huang Shiyuan said generously.
"Then I’ll have grape with taro balls. What about you, Tianmiao?" Han Ting asked.
"Red bean pudding," Tianmiao reported her choice.
"Got it." Huang Shiyuan went off to buy the milk tea.
Han Ting followed her, while Tianmiao stood off to the side waiting.
Looking at the two girls’ bright smiles, a smile slowly formed on Tianmiao’s lips as well.
These two kids were both adorable and kind. So she wasn’t going to let anyone hurt them.
