After they’d eaten in the Taotie Building cafeteria, the three of them strolled slowly back to the dorm.
"So good, so good." Huang Shiyuan rubbed her belly, still craving more. "The taste really lives up to the price. I can already imagine that from now on, more than half my monthly living expenses are going to end up here."
Out of A University’s eight cafeterias, the Taotie Building has the best food, but it’s also the priciest. Besides the students from well-off families who eat here regularly, the average student only comes when they’re treating someone or splurging a bit.
"The food is really great." Han Ting also reached out to touch a belly, except she was touching Huang Shiyuan’s. She laughed. "So squishy. Here, touch mine too. Mine’s got streaky pork in it."
"Really? Let me feel." After squeezing Han Ting’s stomach, Huang Shiyuan went and squeezed Tianmiao’s. "Oh wow, the two of us are already starting to stick out a bit, but Tianmiao’s still perfectly flat. If I’m not remembering wrong, didn’t Tianmiao eat more than we did just now?"
"She did!" Han Ting reached out to poke Tianmiao’s belly as well and exclaimed in surprise, "Tianmiao definitely ate the most just now, right? How come your belly isn’t bulging at all? That’s not scientific."
"I can really pack it away. Honestly, I only ate to about seventy percent full just now," Tianmiao said with a shy smile. Afraid she’d scare these two kids, she turned her thirty percent full into seventy percent.
"Whoa!" Even so, Huang Shiyuan and Han Ting let out cries of amazement. The two of them stared at Tianmiao in disbelief. "And you can still keep a figure like that, we’re so jealous."
"Exactly, my sour grapes are kicking in. Sob sob, heaven is unfair." Huang Shiyuan pretended to cry.
"Work out more." Tianmiao gave the emotionless all-purpose answer.
"Too hard." Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan shook their heads in unison. "We’ll just choose to keep our round, chubby bellies."
Tianmiao curled her lip. "No ambition."
By the time the three of them came back to the dorm chatting and laughing, they found that the last roommate had arrived.
Seeing the three walk in, the girl gave an awkward little smile. "Hi, I’m Zhang Mengfei, from the School of Business Administration, accounting major."
"Hi." Han Ting and the others greeted her and introduced themselves. Then, watching the girl unpack on her own, they asked kindly, "Do you need any help?"
"Ah, no, no, I can do it myself." Zhang Mengfei waved her hand. "I didn’t bring much, I can manage on my own. Since you all got here first, the dorm’s already cleaned up. Thanks for that."
"Don’t mention it, we just happened to arrive earlier." Huang Shiyuan smiled. "Oh, by the way, have you picked up your meal card and everything? Have you had a look around campus yet?"
"I got the card, but I haven’t gone to explore the campus. Classes don’t officially start until the day after tomorrow anyway, I’ll go wander around tomorrow." Zhang Mengfei said with a smile.
One glance at Zhang Mengfei’s appearance and you could tell her family wasn’t very well-off. Her clothes were very simple, and the styles were a bit outdated. On her feet was a pair of knockoff sneakers. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, with thick bangs in front. For luggage, she wasn’t using a suitcase, but a huge canvas bag that had been washed so many times it was starting to fade.
Taking all this in, Huang Shiyuan understood that this girl was probably from the countryside. She didn’t feel any disdain at all; on the contrary, she was thinking that if this girl had a good personality and was easy to get along with, she’d try to help her out with daily life whenever she could.
Early the next morning, Zhang Mengfei was up bright and early. She washed up as quietly as she could, then headed out.
